Healthcare systems today face unprecedented pressure to respond quickly and accurately to medical emergencies. The PHRESH project (Patient Health Response in Emergent and Secure Habitats for Connected Healthcare) is reimagining how critical health information is captured, interpreted, and shared. Running from January 2025 to July 2028 within the ITEA Office4 programme, PHRESH unites advanced technology and medical expertise to create a secure, intelligent, and interoperable framework for connected healthcare.
PHRESH officially kicked off in Istanbul in October 2025, bringing project partners together to align on vision, objectives, and collaboration. Project manager Joanna Morozowska plays a central role in coordinating this complex, multi-partner initiative.
PHRESH addresses the urgent need for timely, accurate clinical information in high-pressure care environments. Emergency teams and clinicians operate under intense time constraints, where immediate insights into a patient’s condition can save lives. By integrating high-precision sensors, real-time analytics, and AI tools like speech-to-text, PHRESH enables faster, better-informed decisions throughout the care pathway.
Security and privacy are core to PHRESH. The project uses quantum‑secure encryption and privacy-preserving data models to safely share sensitive medical information across institutions. A hybrid approach—combining authentic patient data with context‑aware synthetic data—ensures accuracy while upholding strict data protection standards.
Beyond technology, PHRESH promotes health equity by reducing barriers to specialized care. By improving secure information flow between emergency services, hospitals, and clinical teams, the project strengthens coordination, shortens response times, and supports more consistent, effective care delivery.
Funded through the ITEA Office Eureka Cluster programme, PHRESH exemplifies international collaboration in digital and software innovation, building scalable, resilient solutions for future-ready healthcare systems.
